QUOTE (A'dam'mkent @ Mar 23 2010, 07:47 PM) Rumor is Neal Adams plans to re-ink it. I think they're also going to put Obama in it. Yes we can.... but please don't QUOTE (Nightwing @ Mar 23 2010, 08:55 PM) Eight dollars is a deal you're unlikely to match, but even at cover price, the Batman Annuals book isn't bad with that high page count. It collects 4 annuals where the first (at the same price) collected "only" 3. It also happened to be my favorite comic collection of 2009.
I sure hope Adams isn't allowed to touch the Ali book, beyond maybe doing a new cover (which could be bad enough, given some of his recent efforts), but even if the whole thing goes in the crapper, I've still got my original.
Of course now that I've said that, Neal will start going door-to-door with a Sharpie looking to "improve" everyone's original comics. I won it on eBay. The seller auctioned at 0.99 and only a few bid. I saved the seller just in case she posts something cool. I've got my fingers crossed on volume 2. It's not really Adams' fault as much as DC for allowing Adams to re-ink and re-colour thirty years old comics. I don't see it as an improvement; most readers don't see it that way either. I'll never understand it.

They've played all kinds of games with the numbers, what with reboots, weekly events and the like. Don't forget "Superman" missed a few issues during the post-Crisis/pre-reboot period when "Man of Steel" was on the stands, then when it returned it was changed to "Adventures of Superman" for several years (allowing the numbers to keep ticking up, albeit under a new name) so they could give Byrne a "Superman #1" of his own, then it reclaimed the original title a few years ago and continued the original numbering, counting the progress made while "AOS".
Like most things in the modern Superverse, it's confusing.
Back to Adams for a moment, it looks like he's jettisoned Frank Miller for his new Batman project in order to write it himself. I would greet this as great news except in the interview where he confirms it, it's hard to follow any sentence that comes out of his mouth. Still, no Miller + new Adams art probably means I'll pick up at least the first few issues.
Also, Adams apparently is taking credit for the success of the recent Batman films and anything else that's gone well for the character lately. So if nothing else, he's keeping the spirit of Bob Kane alive and well in the "swelled head" department.
